While most teams use the early portion of the season to break in new underclassmen into the lower weight classes, the Falcons will have the strength of their lineup returning in those spots with experienced upperclassmen. Between Panchak, Sanderson, Hernandez, and Cardella, the Falcons return 77 wins in the opening four weights alone. This is the clear strength of their lineup and could make a difference in tight matches early on as experience is often a difference maker in those weights in the beginning of the year.
Monmouth did take a bit of a hit to graduation in the upper half of the lineup with the departures of Jordan, Greenwood, Cotton, and Satcher, a Region qualifier in 2011. Seniors Imber and Neis, who saw plenty of action a year ago, will look to the hold down the fort early on up top as several new starters are broken in.
Under 3rd-year coach Jason Morrell, the Falcons have seen steady improvement. After four consecutive seasons of single digit win total, sub .500 seasons, Monmouth had one of their winningest years in the program's history finishing with a 16-8 record in 2011. If the newcomers up top come along quickly, the middleweights continue to improve, and the lowerweights rack up the wins again, the Falcons could be in store for another fine season and may pull off a surprise or two.
Wrestler To Watch - (Sr) Dominick Cardella
The senior has been a starter for his first three seasons for the Falcons and has compiled 54 wins during that span. He'll once again be a key part of Monmouth's lowerweights and will be in the hunt for his first trip to the Regions in 2011-2012.

While most teams use the early portion of the season to break in new underclassmen into the lower weight classes, the Falcons will have the strength of their lineup returning in those spots with experienced upperclassmen. Between Panchak, Sanderson, Hernandez, and Cardella, the Falcons return 77 wins in the opening four weights alone. This is the clear strength of their lineup and could make a difference in tight matches early on as experience is often a difference maker in those weights in the beginning of the year.
Monmouth did take a bit of a hit to graduation in the upper half of the lineup with the departures of Jordan, Greenwood, Cotton, and Satcher, a Region qualifier in 2011. Seniors Imber and Neis, who saw plenty of action a year ago, will look to the hold down the fort early on up top as several new starters are broken in.
Under 3rd-year coach Jason Morrell, the Falcons have seen steady improvement. After four consecutive seasons of single digit win total, sub .500 seasons, Monmouth had one of their winningest years in the program's history finishing with a 16-8 record in 2011. If the newcomers up top come along quickly, the middleweights continue to improve, and the lowerweights rack up the wins again, the Falcons could be in store for another fine season and may pull off a surprise or two.
Wrestler To Watch - (Sr) Dominick Cardella
The senior has been a starter for his first three seasons for the Falcons and has compiled 54 wins during that span. He'll once again be a key part of Monmouth's lowerweights and will be in the hunt for his first trip to the Regions in 2011-2012.
