Circle The Date
1/5: vs Matawan  -  Rematch of a tough loss for the Falcons from last year, as the Huskies won on Criteria H (Most 1st Points Scored).

The numbers continue to rise each season for Monmouth Regional under third year head coach Rob Micheliche; a great sign as the program continues to rise.

Monmouth has a strong trio of returning starters down low. Junior Shane Learn is coming off a 26-win year, and could be in for a huge year back down at 106. Fellow junior Devon Pham also returns, coming off a 21-win 2018. Sophomore Kevin Cartagena-Walsh is also back down low for the Falcons, and is looking to build off a solid rookie campaign that saw him win 18 bouts. That trio gives the Falcons some nice, proven experience to break in some new starters around. Among the newcomers expected to be in the mix for slots down low are a trio of frosh in Kaan Pehlivan, Finn O'Shaughnessy, and Shane Cartagena-Walsh.

In the middle, senior Victor Olimpio enters his 3rd year as a starter for Monmouth, and along with returning starter Adam Varela, a junior, gives Monmouth some experience in the middle as a few new starters crack the lineup.

There will be a lot of new faces up top, as well, so seniors Jake Hollander and James Camilleri, who are both working towards having big years in their final season, will be looked towards to provide the veteran experience for the newcomers entering the lineup.

As mentioned, the numbers are continuing to rise for Monmouth. With the high numbers comes higher competition in the room, and the team is working hard with big goals in 2019, as they are not just aiming to top their win total from a year ago, but they'd like to take a shot at topping the school record for wins (17). There is also a drive in the room to make a return to the Sectionals, and have a strong showing in the individual postseason for several of the wrestlers here.
