2020 Season Preview

Down Low (106-132): The lowerweights are anchored by a pair of seniors in Shane Learn and Devon Pham. Learn enters his 4th season as a starter and has 67 careers wins, giving him a shot at becoming the third wrestler in program history to reach 100 wins. Pham is also a 4-year starter, and is coming off back to back 20+ win seasons. Learn and Pham, along with junior returner Kelvin Lagomes, provide veteran experience in the lower portion of the lineup as several newcomers look to break into the lineup.

In The Middle (138-160): Junior Kevin Cartagena-Walsh is coming off a 17-win sophomore season in which he advanced to the Regions after finishing 3rd at Districts. There's more experience with several returners from last year's team in the fold, including Shane Cartagena-Walsh, Matt Mendes, Benjamin Trinh, and Finn O'Shaugnessy. The Falcons also hope to get contributions for a handful of new faces looking to crack the lineup.

Up Top (170-Hwt): There's a good number of seniors up top, led by returning starters Adam Varela and Gabe Iniestra. Varela will be looking for big things coming off a 14-5 season, while Iniestra is looking to take a big step up in his final year and help provide veteran leadership for a group that will see several new starters.

Since taking over the program, the numbers in the room have increased each season for head coach Robert Micheliche. That trend continues this year with an enthusiastic group of newcomers to go along with established seniors in the lineup; not to mention a good turnout for the girls' team as well. The lowerweights could be the strength of this team, but the team is pushing each other throughout the lineup as they take aim at on improving on last season's record, taking aim at breaking the program's single-season wins record of 17, and looking to earn a bid to the State Sectional Tournament. There will also be a focus individually on pushing several wrestlers through to the Regions, and looking to battle their way to Atlantic City.
